Banda Black Rio - Carrossel

Banda Black Rio is a Brazilian musical group from Rio de Janeiro that was formed in 1976. It has a repertoire based on funk but also including samba, jazz and Brazilian rhythms. The band has recorded four albums: Maria Fumaca, Gafieira Universal, Saci Perere and Movimento. Compared to other foreign soul-funk groups, Banda Black Rio developed a kind of instrumental soul music that was gladly accepted in other countries.

Black Alien & Speedare a Brazilian duo that focuses their music more on the Funk Carioca or rap genre of music, which when translated means “Funk from Rio”. Some other names this genre goes by is Baile Funk.

Bonde do Rolê is a baile funk group from Brazil consisting of MCs Pedro D’Eyrot and Marina Ribatski, and DJ/MC Rodrigo Gorky. They started in their hometown Curitiba in the south of Brazil, mixing rock guitar riffs with funk carioca (sometimes known as baile funk or Brazilian funk). The trio did their first major tour in 2006, with Cansei de Ser Sexy. During the tour, Marina had an accident at the first Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago, dislocating her elbow while stagediving.

Los Hermanos is an indie rock band from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Formed in 1997, the group, led by Marcelo Camelo (vocals/guitar), Patrick Laplan (bass), Rodrigo Amarante (flute/guitar/vocals), Rodrigo Barba (drums), and Bruno Medina (keyboards) has had many popular albums. “Anna Julia” is one my favorite songs by this great Brazilian band.
