Bonde do Rolê is a baile funk group from Brazil consisting of MCs Pedro D’Eyrot and Marina Ribatski, and DJ/MC Rodrigo Gorky. They started in their hometown Curitiba in the south of Brazil, mixing rock guitar riffs with funk carioca (sometimes known as baile funk or Brazilian funk). The trio did their first major tour in 2006, with Cansei de Ser Sexy. During the tour, Marina had an accident at the first Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago, dislocating her elbow while stagediving.

Jorge Aragão is a samba and pagode musician. Jorge is a multi instrumentalist playing the guitar, surdo, cavaquinho and banjo, among other instruments. In performance, he usually plays the cavaquinho most of the show, and sometimes the banjo.

Cassia Eller’s most popular album is the live recording Acústico that was done for MTV Brazil. Her best known hit songs are her cover for Malandragem, originally written by Cazuza and “Segundo Sol”. Eller is known for her fusion of rock and MPB, and for her extremelt deep and husky singing voice.

According to music scholars, the Brazilian music genre, Bossa Nova was born in the apartment of Nara Leao where she frequently held jam sessions. .
Endowed with a talent for spotting new composers, Nara launched several songwriters by lending her voice to songs that were turned into big hits, like “Pedro Pedreiro”, “Olê Olá” (both by Chico Buarque), “Maria Moita” (Carlos Lyra/ Vinicius), “Corisco” (Sergio Ricardo/ Glauber Rocha), “Esse Mundo É Meu” (Sergio Ricardo), “Maria Joana”, “Pede Passagem” (Sidney Miller), “Recado” (Casquinha/ Paulinho da Viola), “Coisas do Mundo, Minha Nega” (Paulinho da Viola), “João e Maria” (Sivuca/ Chico Buarque), “Com Açúcar, com Afeto” (Chico Buarque), “Apanhei-te Cavaquinho” (Ernesto Nazareth/ Nara Leão). She also recorded basically all of the bossa nova classics.
